Come see me in May in Greensboro for SHIFT NC's annual conference!
Here's what I'll be talking about:
While the birth rate for teens fell 57% between 1991 and 2013, the United States still ranks second in the world among developing countries for teen pregnancy. It would seem that pregnancy prevention programming, contraceptive education and honest conversations can only go so far. But where do we go from here?
If providers offer teens programming related to birth control and how to avoid another pregnancy, they must also offer information on intimate partner violence, sexual abuse and reproductive coercion. Providers who take into consideration the challenges of childhood trauma survivors maximize the impact of their message and are in a better position to create sustainable, long term change. Learn practical tools, inclusive language and trauma-informed best practices in this interactive workshop.
