"When Survivors Give Birth" 1 day program Sat Oct. 29.

1 in 6 women will be a survivor of rape or attempted rape in their lifetime. 1 in 5 women are victims of child sexual abuse.

Survivors have a different set of needs than non-survivors. But do you know what those are and how you can help? You learn how to recognize the signs of abuse, how to elicit a trauma-informed history, the affect of abuse on the brain and more in this one day program.

This program is appropriate for anyone working with women in pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum periods including birth doulas, nurses, lactation consultants, childbirth educators, postpartum doulas, midwives

This is a one day program that starts at 8:00 am and runs until 3:30 pm. This program has been approved by DONA and ICEA for 6.0 continuing education contact hours.

There are no refunds except if you are a birth doula and are called to a birth during the program or are at a birth when the program starts. In the case that the class minimum of 8 paid participants is not met, monies collected will be held for a rescheduled date.

My training is for professionals who deal with pregnant women and new families speaks to the challenges that survivors face at these critical, often very vulnerable, periods in their life. It is based on the book of the same name by Penny Simkin and Phyllis Klaus. I'm one of only a handful of educators worldwide that Penny and Phyllis have personally trained.
