1 in 3 women will be a survivor of some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime.

Many more will experience non-contact sexual violence.

Remember all of those MeToo’s??

We may be talking more about the prevalence of sexual violence but what is less known are the long term effects and how they can affect sexual, reproductive health for life.

Sexual abuse survivors have a different set of challenges in pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period than non-survivors. In this DONA approved training, you will:

  1. Understand the facts of abuse including: risk factors, prevalence and long term impact;
  2. Learn to recognize signs of possible abuse and how to best to support a survivor;
  3. Hone your active listening skills so you can respond confidently in any situation;
  4. Understand the importance of a trauma-informed approach specifically to sexual abuse survivors;
  5. Learn practical tools to use within your own work;
